Counting our blessings and Reflections from 2020

Hello ladies, I hope you’re having a good year thus far. I have been contemplating since New Years Eve what to write about for the first post of 2021, and even though this is nine days late, I hope it is right on time for you. Today I want to reflect on the past year, look at the good that’s come out of it, and find ways we can count our blessings throughout 2021. Go grab your favorite beverage, text a friend to join, and let’s dive in.
Reflecting On God’s Blessings in 2020
I’m sure we can all admit to the fact that 2020 wasn’t pleasant. Be it Covid, job loss, racial tension, or the government tyranny that’s been going on the last few months. If ever the country was going through a massive storm together as a whole, it’s now. I don’t think there is one person who can’t relate to our situation one way or the other. Yet in all this, at least for me – and if you’re honest I’ll bet you too -, we have so much to be thankful for. If you’re breathing and have most – if not all – of your limbs you’ve got something to be thankful for. Especially if you’re a follower of Jesus! Something I’ve done since October of last year was cutting back my time spent on social media. I’m not saying stay away from it, but I encourage you to set time limits on how long you’re on there. Since I’ve only allowed myself an hour a day on social, except to write on the blog here and a few other blogs I manage, as well as not spend as much time watching the news and spending more time with God (Be it in worship, listening to teachings, praying and reading God’s Word), I’ve experienced so much peace! Not only that, but I’ve noticed my faith has grown tremendously. My circumstances haven’t changed much, in fact they’ve gotten a little crazier. Yet as the Bible rights, I am content because deep down I know that I am “more than an overcomer” (Rom. 8:37AMP) What are some things you’re thankful for that happened in 2020? Is there an area that you saw growth in that may not have happened if God didn’t allow things to slow down? I encourage you to think about this and even write a few down to look back on throughout the year.
Counting Our Blessings in 2021
I encourage you throughout this year not to just set goals, or make plans, but to celebrate each time you accomplish a goal or see God answer a prayer this year. What I mean is celebrate the little wins throughout the year and take time to count your blessings regularly. Something I’ve decided to start doing is a monthly reset. What I’ll do is at the beginning of each month I will take a few days to fast and pray, giving God praise for the blessings over the last thirty days and seek His wisdom for the next. I encourage you to ask the Lord if this is something you should do as well, and even if you just do a quarterly – 3 month – reset where you write down all God has done for you, as well as make sure the goals you’ve set for yourself and the goals God has set are lining up with one another. By doing this you are setting yourself up for success and it will be easier to achieve all God has for you in 2021. It is easier to embrace joy when we have a thankful heart and reflect on all God has done for us in the past. As Paul says we don’t get stuck in our past, yet we should remember how God has been faithful to give us hope to keep the faith and keep pressing on. What are some things you are looking forward to God answering in 2021? How has God been faithful to you in the past and how can you believe big for Him in this new year? I look forward to reading your comments!

May wisdom and blessing flow from your lips and may the Lord’s face shine upon you this year like never before!
Your sister in Christ,
Angie
There is enough wisdom in your post to encourage anyone. Nothing has changed for me since leaving 2020 and going into 2021. I will be one year older tomorrow but not too excited over that since I will be 74. Now if it were 24, 34, 44, 54 or even 64 that might excite me. It’s good to know where I am going when my age stops here on earth, makes getting older no so bad. Blessings to you.
